A hit!

The beanie hats with brim I crocheted for christmas gifts were a big hit! Here's some proof!

Hats!

With Christmas approaching fast, I have been crocheting like a madwoman. But the results have been amazing! It started with a ski hat that I began a couple of months ago and finally completed. I was going to give this to my nephew for christmas....



But



Then I learned a new pattern and I fell in love! I started making one for my brother then another for my sister in law. That was when I realized I had to make one for each in their family, so out of the window went the ski hat. I have completed another one for my nephew and bought yarn to make one for my niece. Each beanie with brim are of different color scheme, but all the same design. It is going to be fun giving them for christmas presents. I am definitely going to make them pose for some pictures so I can show them off! The photo of me modeling is with the one I made for my sister in law. :)

Grace Elizabeth's crocheted blanket

I finally completed baby Grace's blanket, a few months late! It turned out gorgeous. I decided to make it regular sized rather than a baby size so she can grow with it. Here are a few pictures.

My incredible dream

I just had a amazing dream while dozing off in the bath. Oh how I would love for it to come true.

For a while now, I have been dreaming about what I will do after graduating from WOU with my BA in ASL studies at the end of March (2010), not very far from now! I dream of giving up my apartment in Monmouth and traveling the country for as long as it takes me, but of course coming back in time to walk with my graduating class in June. I would get to see places i've always wanted to see, visit people I know across the USA, and visit potential grad school programs for next Fall.

Two big obstacles from this coming true are: a reliable vehicle that will travel without much trouble, and a traveling buddy.

My dream revealed the traveling buddy that would absoutely make me the happiest person alive. This person is somebody that I have loved very much since I was in high school, somebody that I have not seen in several years. It is the very same person that I have unfinished business with. In my dream, I finally find him on the first leg of my cross-country trip. We start to converse and I convince him to join me for the journey of our lifetime. It is on the journey that we finally get past the hurt and we begin to heal together while seeing incredible and beautiful places in our country. We create unforgettable memories that would last a lifetime.

Oh, the dreams I have.

Unfinished business from the past...

Tonight has been difficult. I started thinking about the people from my past. I have so many people that have come into my life (for that, I've been very blessed) and some have left too. I suppose that is normal, however I will never forget this one person who had a beautiful heart and somebody that captured my heart from the day we met. I still feel like I never got to make peace with you and resolve our issues, therefore leaving unfinished and unsaid things that needed to be said.
Because I have not been able to find you, DAS, I want you to know that I think about you a lot and pray that you are well and happy. I hope you've found happiness in life and I want nothing more than that for you. You were my true love in life, and I loved you then and will always love you. I am sorry, ever so sorry that I hurt you and that hurts me very much too. I can only hope that you will find it in your heart to forgive me.
I loved you 14 years ago, today you're still in my heart and will always be there as long as I live. <3

Completed baby blanket!!!

I am so excited about completing my first crocheted blanket. This is for Robin's baby Abigail, due on June 25th. This blanket turned out incredibly gorgeous, beyond any expectations I had about it turning out that way. :) I'm so proud of me, and I think my great grandmothers would be too!

Wii fun!

My apartment has become the Wii center, it seems! A few friends have come over two nights in a row for some Wii fun and battles. I am so glad I invested in one. It has provided us with lots of fun and laughs! Tonight, a girlfriend of mine brought extra remotes, kart steering wheels and a couple of games. It ended up in a four-way race! Good times. Girl Babies!!!

Just a short post to exclaim how excited I am for my friends Sarah and Robin. They both found out this week that they're expecting a girl! I am so happy and excited for them. Sarah is already an awesome mama to little Lilah, and I have no doubt she will be wonderful with the new bebe as well! Robin is going to be an amazing momma. I can't wait to see her with her first baby in her arms.
Just watch, with all the girls, I will probably end up having a boy when it is my turn, even though I want a girl first. LOL. I'll update on the rest of my life sometime soon. But for now, off to crochet away my soul with two baby blankets to make!

First day of the rest of my life?

Today is the first of the rest of my life. Maybe?

I have been telling myself all of last week, that starting today Monday January 19th I am going to start changing things in my life. If I don't start now, it will never happen. I am going to attempt changing the way I eat (I am not going to call it a DIET), but rather changing the way I eat. This is only the first step. Along with the changing of food, I am forced to monitor my blood sugars more closely. Because I am attempting to cut down on carbohydrates, it will have a big impact on how my blood sugars are going to be. In the long run, it will be a really good change. However, it's going to be a uphill battle to find the right balance of managing my blood sugars, the insulin (or lack of) I need for the amount of carbs I actually intake. I wouldn't be surprised if I have several lows before I figure it out. Let me tell you, this scares me the most. I absoutely despite lows and I fear them. I hate how it makes me feel, during and even after wards. It sometimes takes me hours to feel my old self. The worst part is when I have a severe low, I can easily blow my goals of cutting carbohydrates. When I have a severe low, my mind tells me to eat all the food I can find in the refrigator. Often, they're the worst kind.

Excerise is my other downfall that I am going to try to change. I am not going to start right away, but I am working on teaming up with a PE student who is working towards learning how to train others. This way, we both benefit. We'll see if that works out. Hopefully it does.

Today, I have several things I need to do. Thank goodness its a holiday, giving me an extra day to get everything I need done. I have some homework and studying that needs to be done while doing my laundry at the laundromat. Then I need to go food shopping for the good stuff that will help me change the way I eat. Hopefully I will have some time to cook up some things so I don't have to this week.

Last night I went through my organizer and added several things to my schedule (classes, my regular job, my temporary job) and my schedule is looking really full already without the homework/studying and later adding into execrising. It's going to be the term from hell, and it's going to be interesting I can tell you that!

I will need all the luck I can get, and the encouragement! So bring them on! I will try to update on how my changes are progressing time to time. Perhaps, updating on this blog regularly will help with seeing the progress I am making. Hmm. Until next time...

New hobby: crocheting!

Well, it is about time I found a hobby that I actually enjoy and am really getting into! I've always had trouble sticking to one hobby, I would get bored or frustrated easily with projects or hobbies i've attempted in the past. I think I've found my cinch though! I love crocheting!

In the last several months, from the end of the summer up to the beginning of this year, I have crocheted some projects and have several others in mind! I've got a great stash of yarn now too. Thank you Sarah!! That basket full of yarn was an awesome gift! I've included some pictures of a few things I've made so far. Once you know the basics of crocheting, it is fun! I have found doing quick and small projects more satisfying than huge ones, so hence the granny squares. They are small and you can see the fun designs. In the end (eventually!) I will have enough squares to make a gorgeous blanket. Unfortunately, since the winter term has started I have not had time to start another square or project. :( I guess I will need to set aside some time if I want to ever finish anything. *dream on Lyra*

Why is it so difficult for the disability office to get it's act together?!

Why am I so pissed? Here's the reason.

Last term, I had to withdraw from my Financial Management class after the disability office made a mess out of the note-taking situation I had. You see, my class depended heavily on the notes we took from the board. All of the things the professor wrote on the board applied to our homework, which also becomes our take home quizzes. The material is very confusing and if we don't do the homework soon after the class (within the day or two)it becomes harder to figure out and remember what we need to do. Well, the note-taker I had didn't bother dropping off my notes until the end of the week. After requesting the notes be dropped off immediately after class several times, and still not receiving them in reasonable time. I became too behind and confused. Therefore, I had to withdraw.

Well, I registered for the same class this term. I specifically wrote on my accomdations form that I will NEED the notes immediately after class, and that they should be aware the note-taker is to be available to do so. Today, I went to the office late in the afternoon because I had class at 2pm and I thought that it would give the note taker plenty of time to get the notes there. I was SO mistaken. I still have not recieved ANY notes from last week or this week! The office receptionist, who also is responsible for the note-taking progran didn't seem to have any idea what was going on. I clearly told them how it is essential for me to get the notes immediately. I left with no answers. I am waiting to hear back, and in the meanwhile I cannot do my homework.
